History of Colorado

Colorado has an extremely colorful history, before it entered Statehood during the Ulysses Grant administration and since.  With Pike's Peak goldrush and numerous con men and outlaws peppering the history of Colorado, from Soapy Smith to gunmen like Robert Ford.  Many genealogists have researched the information in CO, and have found that the first Europeans to visit the area was the Spanish.  Some of the artefacts from these famous pioneers are in mesuems throughout USA today.  Not too far from Denver is the famous Colorado Springs, where Cheyenne is not too far from.  Many mining activities took place in these cities, many cities in Colorado were formed because of the mining activities.  Unfortunately, when the minerals ran out, the towns frequently went bust.  The culture of Denver and Colorado are shaped today still by the miners work ethic as well as the drive to take risks.

Though in modern times, people are more likely to get around with pickups rather than horses.  Jeeps are also de riguer here.

With its folklore of Cowboys and Native Indians, combined with the backdrop of the Snow capped mountains in Aspen, co is a wonderful place to live, visit and explore !
